CRUZ AZUL CONTINUES TO HELP PETS IN NEED

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Cruz Azul Murcia continued to help pet-owners who needed assistance throughout 2020 and 2021. Charities have faced a very hard time over the past two years, and Cruz Azul’s volunteers have risen to the challenge, working tirelessly to ensure the safety of its patrons and to take care of the animals in need of vet care. “It was particularly difficult when people couldn’t cross borders” said President, Lyn Baines. “But, thanks to an understanding landlord, our generous supporters and our trusted vets, no animal in need was turned away. BARNEY THE STREET CAT

Barney is so lucky to have been rescued from the street. He was in a very bad way, unable to eat because of mouth problems and losing his fur through poor nutrition.Cruz Azul and Centro Veterinario Provet helped to make him better and Graham Cheal at Del Monte Cat Refuge has kindly adopted him so that he has a furever home. Unfortunately, Barney has been diagnosed with FIV (the feline version of AIDS) and cannot mix with Graham’s other cats, so we need to build Barney a log cabin to keep him happy and comfortable for the rest of his life. As you can imagine, times have been hard for…

    Collaboration for Street Cats

Cruz Azul Murcia is collaborating with cat charity, Dejando Huella, as part of their ongoing campaign to manage street cats in a humane and caring way. Dejando Huella is a small group of volunteers taking care of cat colonies and injured and abandoned cats in the Torre Pacheco area. Dejando Huella started with just five volunteers covering a very wide area. The Association now co-ordinates a team of around 25 authorised volunteer managers for their feline colonies in different areas and districts throughout the Municipality. Working closely with Dejando Huella, they help manage and feed these colonies with food provided by the Association, keeping those neighbourhoods clean and healthy. They…

Ozzy looked sadly on as his fellow canines kept cool in the pool.
